Inspirational Quotes to Ponder #4

Sorry for the long delay between posts.  This past weekend was the Canadian Thanksgiving and between that and a host of other commitments, time was short.

So here is another quote that I had heard before but was reminded of this weekend.

Your Life is an occasion.  Rise to it ~ unknown

I had heard this before, but this weekend I had the chance to see (for the second time) the movie Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, where this line jumped out at me again.

As a slight aside, I love the movie and it’s message, which is: believe.  Believe in magic, believe in yourself, believe in all that is wonderful and playful and joyous in the world.  As a part of this message is the sub-message of our quote.

Your life is an occasion, rise to it.

Too many people tend to think of themselves and their lives as nothing special.  And the more you think of yourself and your life as nothing special, then that’s what you’ll get.  You will probably close your eyes to all of the wonderful, magical, beautiful things that you are and that life holds.

This is what “your life is an occasion” means.  It means, you and your life ARE something special, something to be excited about, something to celebrate.

The next bit is the challenge, “rise to it”.  This is the ‘believe’ part.  Your life IS special, this is a FACT, it is not up for debate.  You and your life are amazing, wondrous and truly precious.  The real question is, DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?

That is what the challenge of “rise to it” is referring to.  Believe in yourself and the wonder that is your life.  Rise to the beauty and magic of the occasion that is your life.

I love this message and it inspires me to do more, be more, believe more and most importantly to love and appreciate myself.

Take some time today, or sometime soon, and think about this quote.  Really look at all of the good and wonderful things that are in your life (I suppose this is also a thanksgiving related post in a way).  Don’t dwell on the bad or the negative, but see the beauty and the magic in the world.

You life is an occasion, as I say, this is a fact.

The question is, what will you do?  Will you continue to believe that you are nothing special?  Or will you rise up and believe in yourself and the magic you hold.

For myself, I will keep laughing, and believing in magic.
