Laugh Life Day 34

Today I was going to write about how I will be spending today in the company of Theatre friends helping to clean up our local little theatre and how doing altruistic things like this can be a great source of joy.

Then I remembered something.  You are not me.

I was remembering back to a study I’d read a couple of years ago on how to increase you happiness which talked about doing something hedonistic (for yourself) and doing something altruistic (for others) and how both in the right circumstances could help increase happiness.

Then I remembered “Oh right, I know so much more about happiness now!” and one of the things I’ve learned is that what works for me may not work for you.

Take my joke from yesterday.  Reversals and word play is the kind of humour that really works for me, but maybe it doesn’t work for you.  And as much as I want to say that everyone should find everything funny, because why not laugh if you have the chance, I still am not a fan of “shock comedy” (i.e. Tom Green – I don’t know who else is doing it these days).

So I suppose I’ll say this.  when it comes to laughing, allow yourself a broad spectrum of laughter-able subjects, but ultimately you have to be true to you.  So do what makes you happy.

And remember “subjects” come from outside of you, and you might as well just laugh for no reason by building a bubbly self on the inside.

I’m off to do my morning laughing for no reason, where ever you are feel free to join in.
