Laugh Life Day 49

Last night during the car ride home from dinner with my in-laws, I was able to talk openly about all my fears and doubts (about myself, my business,  etc) to my wife.

Yes, even I have fears and doubts.  To quote The Princess Bride: “Life is pain highness, anyone who says otherwise is selling something.”

I don’t know if I fully believe this quote, but I would agree that no matter who you are, no matter how successful or in control a person may look on the outside, EVERYONE has fears and doubts of some sort.

I once read somewhere that Tony Robbins (a guy who definitely has the image of “having it all together”) before one of his first big seminars was talking with his wife about how nervous he was (and nervous is just another word for fearful and/or doubtful).

The point I wanted to make by bringing this up is this:  I was able to talk about my fears and doubts without having them overwhelm me.  I actually was able to maintain a fairly light attitude, It didn’t send me to that deep depressing place that talking about such things even ten years ago might have.

I think this has to do with the laughing for no reason that I’ve been doing.  Which makes me feel “lighter” in general even during trying times.

I always knew that laughing would lift your mood, but some of the research I’ve done recently has suggested that having a regular practice of laughing for no reason can even lift people out of some pretty deep depression.

This is some powerful stuff.

Who needs Prozac when you have laughter.
