Allow me tow quote you a few lines from the song “Raise a little Hell” by Trooper. I’ve taken out the chorus so it flows a little better.
If you dont like what you got, why dont you change it? If your world is all screwed up, rearrange it? If you dont like what you see, why dont you fight it? If you know there's something wrong why dont you right it? In the end it comes down to your thinking And there's really nobody to blame When it feels like your ship is sinking And you're too tired to play the game Nobody's going to help you You've just gotta stand up alone And dig in your heels and see how it feels To Raise a little Hell of your own
I have always loved this song, for me it’s very inspiring. It’s all about choice: are you going to put up with what’s happening now or are you going to change it?
We’ve all been in situations where we don’t like what’s happening, but we feel helpless to stop it, perhaps, as the song suggests, we just feel too tired to play the game.
But every choice we make helps to mold our future (you cannot change the past, you can only change the future by making different choices now).
Now here’s the good part. Unlike the song there is someone there to help you, you do not have to be “stand up alone”. There are coaches and counsellors out there who cab help you identify what is important to you and get a deeper understanding of who you are so that you can make choices that will make the future you want.
So go ahead and “raise a little hell”!
Ultimately the choice is yours – and that’s worth laughing about.
Keep laughing.
